Case Study Five
Functional Entertaining Garden
This garden was designed from a sketch given to us by the client. She knew that she wanted a circular feature at the back of the garden, and that it should be quite formal in design.
Initially we were contracted to install the raised circular planting area and natural stone paved circle. However, the client was so thrilled as the design was realised that we were asked to design and build the rest of the garden as well!
The garden includes a manageable lawn. An ample paved area outside the conservatory for potting plants or enjoying that evening glass of red!
A functional footpath, laid in the same Indian sandstone to connect the separate areas.
The original feature area at the top of the garden. Including a raised circular planting area, built from railway sleepers. The paved circle softens the otherwise linear nature of the rest of the garden. Outside lighting was installed to further enhance this feature and also to allow for evening enjoyment.
We added more raised planting areas, as the ground was very heavy clay. These planters were filled with new top-soil and mushroom compost. These raised planters also make for a handy perch, when entertaining guests with a summer BBQ. The completed garden, was left ready for planting, entertaining and enjoying!
